Everton travels to the Molineux Stadium to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last game of 2023.
December 30 marks the last game of 2023 for Everton, following a bumpy, nerve-wracking year with a change of manager, tough results, and a huge 10-point deduction.
Wolves are 11th in the PL table, whereas Everton are 17th. Without the point deduction, the Toffees would be above, in 10th. The relegation battle is extremely close, with only 10 points separating the bottom six places in the league.
Moving onto the fixture, Everton's form has dropped a bit, with three losses in a row, but these have been either unlucky or against top sides, which you wouldn't expect the Blues to get points against.
Gary O'Neil's side is in decent form, and he has addressed his love for his home games in his recent press conference in the build-up to the game:
"But I’m really looking forwards to it because I’ve loved the home games so far and looking forward to making sure the lads are in a place where they can get the fans going again so they can create that atmosphere we’ve had this season.”
And Gary also expressed his opinion on Everton:
“I think they’ve been very impressive. They’ve had some fantastic results and really good performances and seem to have evolved quite a lot from when we last played them, having watched quite a lot of them this week."
On the other hand, Sean Dyche, Everton manager, praised Wolves for their style:
"They’ve varied their play, doing a good job. When Gary came in there was talk of players leaving but he seems to have calmed it. They’ve been a good outfit. Like anything, the strength of the Premier League you have to be on top of performances - we have been."
This is a chance for both teams to gain some points, and we will find out soon...
