Everton vs Newcastle United takes place on the 7th of December 2023 at Goodison Park with both teams eyeing up a vital three points.
While the Blues gained 3 points in a 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, just a few hours later, Newcastle beat a lackluster Manchester United by the same scoreline.
With Everton's last home game being a 3-0 defeat by Manchester United, following wild protests regarding the ten-point deduction the club received after breaking FFP rules, and off the recent form at Goodison Park, Evertonains are hoping that there is not a repeat of form at home.
Newcastle sit 6th in the current Premier League table, whilst Everton lay 18th with a game in hand against Luton and Burnley, two teams that will more than likely be involved in the relegation fight come later in the season.
Injuries are a problem for Newcastle at the moment, with key players like Nick Pope, Callum Wilson and Dan Burn will not feature. This will be a massive factor in the match.
Even with injuries, Eddie Howe believes that they have a group of "Incredible characters who are prepared to give everything physically and mentally to achieve success." He also added that "there should be a good feeling in the group that we have the talent, we have the ability, and we have the character."
The Newcastle United manager also added that “Everton have made big strides as a team, the biggest challenge for us is that we compete as they do. They are a very strong, physical team that will ask questions defensively".
In Sean Dyche's press conference, he provided an update on the injuries on Amadou Onana, Andre Gomes, and Dominic Calvert Lewin. He stated that:
"Andre's had a very frustrating season so far but he got a run out. There's a bit more from him to be fully fit.
Amadou's back on the grass., touch and go with our decision around him.
Dom's showing good signs of being right so he'll come back into the thinking."
It is also clear that both Jarrad Branthwaite and Abdoulaye Doucoure are one yellow card off a one-match suspension.
