Thriving Aston Villa Visit Goodison Park

Title-chasing Aston Villa travel down to play an Everton side that haven't won in the last five games in all competitions.

The Blues come into this game as highly underdogs, as Aston Villa's manager, Unai Emery, recently cemented his play style and wanted motivation for his side. This is noticeable due to their simply incredible form, as out of the last 15 games in all competitions for Villa, they have won 10! However, in Emery's press conference, he stated that he is going to need to change his ways to cope with Everton. Here is what he had to say:

"They are a team that when we analyse them they shoot a lot and they get a lot of corners offensively."

"They play in combinations and they get a lot of players in the opponent's box."

"It will be difficult and we have to defend strongly. We have to control the match getting players in good positions, trying to impose our style and idea. We have to compete on Sunday and to do that is to adapt to them."

From this, it is inevitable that we will see a change of tactics from Unai Emery to be victorious over the Toffees.

This week, Everton's Dutch attacker, Arnaut Danjuma, had a mass amount of links, all expecting him to join French side Lyon. Some journalists have said that Danjuma's club outside of his loan, Villarreal, wants him to leave Everton and play in France. Following this, Danjuma proceeded to post a picture on Instagram of him and his agent on a plane. Everyone thought that he was taking a plane to France; however, he was taking a flight from Manchester Airport to Liverpool Airport for training!

Sean Dyche jokes in his press conference that he would personally use a car, then proceeds to speak about what he is planning to do with Danjuma and where he may fit into this Everton side. Here is what he had to say:

"The situation is very simple, he is an Everton player. That’s it."

"He played the last game and has a fair chance of playing the next one. He has certainly never been out of our plans."

“He remains an Everton player and there isn’t really a story. I keep hearing quotes about him not being in our plans, I don’t know where they have come from. Nobody has asked me, but as I have been asked now, he is an Everton player and is part of what we do."

This is the first game in the Premier League for Everton and Aston Villa in this calendar year, as the first was a FA Cup fixture. When Everton faced Crystal Palace away from home in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, Everton winger Dwight McNeil was seen to be stretched off the pitch in what looked like quite a horrible injury. It later emerged that it wasn't really serious and that Dwight was lucky to escape a higher impact of injury. This was also mentioned by Dyche in his conference, and he said that it was an ankle swelling, but he is "touch-and-go" on whether he will feature in this game.
