Everton host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park, which is an extremely important game for the Blues during the relegation battle as the end of the season is soon to be among us.
Everton find themselves in the relegation zone, in 18th place. Burnley, one below in 19th, have played an extra game, 25. The main focus for all teams in that area of the table is one place above the drop, which is Luton. They have played 23 games and are one point clear of the Toffees.
Everton are still going through a process of appeal due to the point deduction sanctioned to the club. It is clear that the club is positive that they will walk away with something to cheer about. Mid-February was the estimated time of the reveal, but no news has yet broken.
Adding to the hopeful morale of the club and its fans, Sean Dyche has revealed that three key players are returning from their injuries. Midfielders Amadou Onana and Abdoulaye Doucoure are expected to be back in the matchday squad, alongside Mr Everton, Seamus Coleman, who has played over 400 times for the Toffees. Hopefully, these players returning will give us that extra boost to see us over the line and claim all the points.
Crystal Palace have come under a lot of speculation this week due to the uncertainty of Roy Hodgson's managerial position within the club. It has been confirmed by Fabirizo Romano that manager Oliver Glasner is set to take over the role of Hodgson on Tuesday, with the Everton game being his last. He has been given a two-year contract with the club, with the hope of restoring their place in the middle of the Premier League table as their form is slipping with 24 games played, 6 wins, 6 draws, and 12 losses. Protests by Palace fans against their game against Chelsea held up banners that displayed "Weak Club Culture," "Weak Transfer Policy," and "Youth Scapegoated."
The game takes place on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 20:00.
