Everton travel north to clash against Newcastle United at St James' Park in yet another tough test for the Blues.
The Geordies find themselves 8th in the Premier League table, having a positive game after an outstanding comeback against West Ham on Saturday. The Toffees, on the other hand, were distraught. A Seamus Coleman own-goal in the first minute of additional time in the second half was the decider that ultimately gave Bournemouth the 3 points.
Last Time Out:
NEWCASTLE 4-3 WEST HAM:
Isak (6), (77) - Antonio (21)
Barnes: (83), (90) - Kudus (45+9)
Bowen (48)
BOURNEMOUTH 2-1 EVERTON:
Solanke (64). - Beto (87)
Coleman (OG) (90+1)
In Everton manager Sean Dyche's press conference in the lead-up to the game, he revealed that in order to perform to a truly great extent, "we make sure all the details are correct," meaning offensively and defensively.
It has emerged that if Everton don't win at Newcastle, it will set a new record of the club's longest winless streak in the Premier League, a record no player wants on their back.
On the other hand, Everton fan and Newcastle manager Eddie Howe's focus was on the long list of injuries Newcastle have. Now, Matt Target will be joining the group, and Kieran Trippier will soon be back after suffering a calf injury that has kept him sidelined for the past few games.
Previous Fixture Between The Teams:
EVERTON 3-0 NEWCASTLE - 7 DEC 2023:
McNeil (79)
Doucoure (86)
Beto (90+6)
