It Ends Level At Kenilworth Road

2 goals in 7 minutes are shared between Luton and Sean Dyche’s travelling Everton side in a game that the Hatters had to win.

Luton’s Premier League table position means that this fixture was of extreme importance, which is a contributing factor to which league they will be playing in next season. They had a chance to leave the drop zone, going ahead of Nottingham Forest in a much better position than they would have been before.

However, after Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite was brought down in the box by Teden Mengi following a corner, The decision went to VAR, and a penalty was given to the Toffees. Soon later, Dominic Calvert-Lewin struck the ball in the centre of the net past Belgium goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, making it 1-0 to the Blues.

Goals: 7

Shots: 67

Only 7 minutes later, Luton’s Sambi Lokonga whipped a ball into the path of Adebayo, who eased his way past Ashley Young and managed to slice it until the bottom left-hand corner of the net past Jordan Pickford, making the game even, 1-1.

Luton had something to play for now; having the momentum and their fans behind them meant they were looking to be a better team towards the end of the first half. A block off the line by Everton defender Ben Godfrey right on halftime meant that there were evident nerves across the Blues and hope that the second half would create more opportunities for the Hatters.

Ben Godfrey Stats This Season:

Last Line Recoveries: 2

Clean Sheets: 4

Tackles: 30

Unfortunately for Luton, however, they weren’t able to take their chances in a game where they needed to, to espace the drop zone.
