Everton Underdogs As They Face Manchester City Away

Everton travel to Manchester to face the blue-side Manchester City in a game where the Toffees are massive underdogs.

Manchester City lay second behind Liverpool with a game in hand. If City win tomorrow, they will go top of the Premier League table, one point ahead of Liverpool at 52.

Everton, however, find themselves in the midst of an early relegation scrap. All the teams in the bottom three have played 23 games this season, but Luton Town, in 17th place, have played 22. It is looking like Brentford and Nottingham Forest can still get brought into the situation at the bottom of the league table.

It was a quiet transfer window for the Blues, with no first-team signings and only a couple outgoings, but there are obvious financial issues that restricted the club from this, which is understandable. On the other hand, Manchester City made a noticeable decision to sell midfielder Kalvin Phillips to West Ham United and signed Claudio Echeverri for £12.5 million from River Plate.

Everton manager Sean Dyche revealed in his press conference for the fixture that midfielder Amadou Onana is in contention to be part of the squad travelling to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Toffees, Arnaut Danjuma, Andre Gomes, and Abdoulaye Doucoure will not be able to feature due to their injuries. He also provided an update on Dele, who is recovering from a groin injury, which set him back to returning to action.

For Manchester City fans, manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that both Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne have returned and said that it really helps having them both, as they, as we know, are world-class players!

With Manchester City unbeaten in the last 13 Premier League games against the Blues, it will surely give them a big boost of confidence going into the game. The last time Everton beat City was in 2017, when Tom Davies ran the full length of the pitch and brought it comfortable over the goalkeeper.

I will be there tomorrow as it was my birthday the day before, February 9th, and it was one of my presents!
