Everton host an already relegated Sheffield United side in the last home game of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Everton, who confirmed their safety a couple of weeks ago after a 1-0 victory over Brentford, have nothing to play for, with all Toffees hoping that Sean Dyche can make an even more positive end to the season.
Everton have recently withdrawn from the appeal regarding the two-point deduction, releasing a club statement on X about the situation:
Everton Club Statement:
Everton Football Club has withdrawn its appeal of the decision by a Premier League Independent Commission to impose a two-point deduction on the Club for a breach of the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules for the accounting period ending in June 2023.
A hearing, scheduled for later this month, will now not proceed, and the Club will conclude the 2023/24 Premier League season with the two-point deduction remaining in place.
Along with the withdrawal of the appeal, there was some more news regarding Everton this week. On Friday, it was confirmed that Toffees’ manager Sean Dyche has won the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for April! As well as this, Everton women's manager, Sorensen Scoops, also won manager of the month in the Women’s Super League.
Sheffield United will be without former Everton player Tom Davies, along with Daniel Jebbison and John Egan, for their trip to Goodison Park. Also, they will be without Mason Holgate, who is on loan from the Blues, due to him being ineligible to play.
As the Premier League season is coming to an end, the prospect of relegation is still on the minds of a few different clubs. Here is what the bottom section of the table looks like:
Bottom of Premier League Table - Friday 10th May:
15 Everton 37
16 Brentford 36
17 Nottingham Forest 29
18 Luton 26
19 Burnley 24
20 Sheffield United 16
Everton don’t have any new injury incidents that Sean Dyche needed to address in his press conference leading up to the fixture, with only Mykolenko, Patterson, and Dele set to miss the final game at home.
