Everton host Roma at Goodison Park on Saturday 10th August in the final pre-season game for the Blues before the Premier League 24/25 campaign commences.
The new additions of Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye, Jake O’Brien and Jesper Lindstrøm have featured in past pre season games against Salford, Coventry and most recently Preston North End, where the Toffees came out on top with a 3-0 victory at the Deepdale Stadium.
This week Everton announced that they faced a behind closed doors friendly against Scottish side Motherwell and won 6-0! Goals from Beto, Neal Maupay, academy product Harrison Armstrong and Jake O’Brien allowed the Blues to breeze through the fixture.
This fixture against the Serie A side was set to be related with a possible new ownership of the Friedkin group. As the majority shareholders of Roma and were granted a period of exclusitivity within Everton this fixture was a way of connecting the clubs together.
However, a couple weeks back Everton announced that they had left negotiations making this fixture a particularly odd encounter.
Last season AS Roma finished 6th in the Serie A qualify for the Europa League group stages. Daniel De Rossi’s side has made 6 signings this summer transfer window, most notable Artem Dovbyk from Girona and 21 year old Matias Soule for Juventus for €25m.
Everton have had some positive news in the past few days regarding the sponsorships with companies in order to create one of the best fan experiences in Europe. Worldwide catering company Aramark UK, that allow food and drink to be available efficiently at many NFL stadiums is being introduced into Bramley Moore Dock next season.
Alongside this, a new fanzone next to Sandfields train station, where many Evertonians will be using as transport to get there and back from home games, is being planned in order to create more efficient way for people to enter the station. In order to stop cramping and the possibility of danger next to the train tracks, a piece of land ajacent to the station is being implemented as a fanzone.
US billionaire John Textor, who has been a name in the mix for Everton Football Club as majority shareholders alongside names such as the Friedkin Group, has made a bid for a club today, aswell as Everton legend Tim Cahill’s Qatari company visited the stadium this week.
In preparations for the game, Everton have trained at Goodison Park and out of contract Dele Alli has been pictured with the first team as he is still undergoing a rehabilitation period at Finch Farm. Unfortunately, Portuguese striker Youseff Chermiti, who many were expecting to make a breakthrough season in the Premier League as Dominic Calvert-Lewin has reportedly turned down a new contract and is close to running it out that would mean him leaving for no fee, has had to undergo surgery following a foot injury during training. Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson are still recovering from their own injuries but are expected to be back in action soon!
