Everton host Crystal Palace who are yet to win a game too this season in the sixth match day of the season.
Last week Everton battled it out right to the final whistle to take a point from Leicester at the King Power Stadium in a 1-1 draw with goals from Iliman Ndiaye and Stephan Mavididi ending the game level; this was Everton’s first point of the season as the last four games had been defeats.
Everton Premier League Results:
Leicester 1-1 Everton
Aston Villa 3-2 Everton
Everton 2-3 Bournemouth
Spurs 4-0 Everton
Everton 0-3 Brighton
Crystal Palace last week held Manchester United to a goalless draw at home. With a combined total of 24 shots, you have to give credit where it is due to both goalkeepers, Andre Onana and Dean Henderson, as they both capped off brilliant displays to give their team a point.
Argentinian winter Garnacho hit the crossbar halfway into the second half; it rolled out to Bruno Fernandes and also hit the crossbar, a stroke of luck for Palace.
Crystal Palace Premier League Results:
Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester United
Crystal Palace 2-2 Leicester City
Chelsea 1-1 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace 0-2 West Ham
Brentford 2-1 Crystal Palace
Some really positive news this week for Everton Football Club, as the Friedkin Group will be taking over the club if many tests from the regulators are accepted.
The Friedkin Group replace British-Iranian business Farhad Moshiri, who bought 49.9% of the club back in 2016 and in 2022 increased to a huge 94.1%.
Many Everton fans believe Moshiri’s time as owner has been extremely disappointing, as the amount of failed players signed for an unreasonable price alongside the constant change of managers means some Evertonians won’t be sad to see him go.
Although Farhad Moshiri had hired Carlo Ancelloti for a season, as well as signing Colombian superstar James Rodriguez all during the COVID period, there have been 11 different managers in charge of Everton since Moshiri has been involved with the club's hierarchy, as well as poor finances too. In the 2021-22 Premier League season, Everton reported a loss of £44.7m; the next season would end up doubling that and more, at a whopping -£89.1m, leading to multiple point deductions.
Sean Dyche and many Everton players in interviews after the draw against Leicester City and in the lead-up to this home game against Crystal Palace have commonly expressed the need to start getting results on the board. Even though it is a long season, points are needed as teams will start racing away, picking up victories, whereas the Toffees won’t. It also seems like this fixture could be the starting point, a slightly weaker opposition than teams the Blues have already faced, like Aston Villa, Brighton, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Everton’s injury crisis may be coming to an end, which is a huge bonus as Dyche was forced to play players in unusual positions last week, such as James Garner in right back. Jarrad Branthwaite, Vitalli Mykolenko, Nathan Patterson, and Idrissa Gana Gueye have all returned to first team training in preparation for the game against Palace, and Branthwaite is available for selection!
