Lorenzo Pellegrini and Dominic Calvert Lewin’s goals meant the final Everton pre-season ended level.
The game had more than likely been organised as a way to connect both clubs together, as the Friedkin Group, who are already major shareholders in Roma, were extremely close to taking over the Blues, even being granted a period of exclusivity. However, since pulling out of negotiations, this fixture has become an unexpected matchup.

The first goal came in the 39th minute, when Roma midfielder Soulé lobbed the ball over the Everton defence, straight into the path of the Italian Pellegrini, who slotted it past Jordan Pickford, putting the Serie A side ahead.
At halftime, De Rossi decided to make a change, taking off Zalewski and replacing him with Faraone. It seemed Sean Dyche was happy with the squad he had already picked, as he took off captain Seamus Coleman for Ashley Young before the Roma goal.
Not long into the second half, a through ball by Dwight McNeil into the path of Dominic Calvert-Lewin was played to perfection. It was a 1v1 between the Englishman and Ivory Coast centre-back Evan Ndicka. Luckily for the Evertonians, Calvert-Lewin managed to get the better of him and place the ball in the bottom corner past Svilar.
More substutions were made, but none impacted the game any further that more goals emerged and the game ended 1-1.
Next week, Everton host Brighton and Hove Albion in the first Premier League game in the 24/25 campaign and the last at Goodison Park before the Toffees move to their new stadium, Bramley Moore Dock, on the banks of the royal blue Mersey!
