Everton Face Sligo Rovers In First Pre-Season Friendly

Everton face Sligo Rovers in the first pre-season friendly this season as a way to mark Seamus Coleman’s memorable career for the Toffees.

Returning back to Ireland, where the Northen Ireland international first thrived within his professional football career, where he made 56 appearances between 2006 and 2009, is commemorating his long-lasting service for the club. Everton have been at a training facility in Ireland this week for pre-season, meaning the location is suitable for the fixture.

On Friday in Dublin, an hour-long documentary named "SEAMUS" premiered, tracking back and remembering the fullback's career and his achievements along the way.

Back to the game at hand, and Evertonians are hopeful that many new additions to the squad will make their debut for the club today. Tim Irroeagbunam, Iliman Ndiaye, and Jack Harrison are all new additions to the Blues, and there are set to be more incomings soon.

As Amadou Onana is set to have a medical at Aston Villa this weekend ahead of a €50 million move, this money will allow Kevin Thelwell to find the best fit to add to the depth of the squad. One player is Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrøm. However, the Danish international has gathered a poor record for the Italian side this year, whereas playing for Eintracht Frankfurt, he managed to produce 28 goal contributions and make 80 appearances for the club.

The main focus of pre-season is obviously fitness and sharpness, and this has been made evident by the manager. His ritual, “Gaffer’s Day,” where players are tested to their limits through multiple tough running drills throughout the training day, is something not looked forward to by members of the squad.
