Everton Face Aston Villa Away Without A Point This Season


Everton have a tough test of Aston Villa away at Villa Park in the first fixture back after the international break.

 

Over the break, many Toffees features for their nations; here is a roundup of who got the call up and how they got on:



Everton International Break Roundup:


  • Everton’s new signing Mangala was called up for the Belgium team against Israel but didn’t feature. However, the second game against France he played for 30 minutes in a 2-0 defeat.


  • Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye were both called up to the Senegal national team for this set of AFCON Qualifiers against Burkina Faso and Burundi. In the draw against Burkina Faso, Gueye featured for the majority of the fixture whereas Ndiaye came on late and only featured for a minute. In the second game, Ndiaye didn’t feature and Gueye played for approximately 60 minutes.


  • Both Seamus Coleman and Jake O’Brien played for the Republic of Ireland. In the first game against England, Coleman was subbed off with an injury 12 minutes into the second half and was replaced by O’Brien. Pickford featured in goal for England as he kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory. In the second game for the Republic of Ireland against Greece no Evertonians featured.


  • Ukrainian fullback Mykolenko was called up for his nation for the games against Albania and Czech Republic. In both games Mykolenko played the full match, however Ukraine were defeated in both.


  • Danish winger Jesper Lindstrøm was called up for the match against Serbia but unfortunately didn’t feature.


  • In Pickford’s second game this inter trial l break between the sticks for England he created his own milestone of 70 caps for England with 33 clean sheets for his nation in a 2-0 win over Finland.



Perhaps the break came at the right time for Everton, after a stunning loss against Bournemouth, creating milestones of the latest comeback when a team is leading 2-0 in Premier League history.

 

Everton currently sit at the at the bottom of the Premier League table after three games with a goal difference of -8.

However, some new additions to the squad through the transfer window are committing to help the Blues. Chelsea striker Armando Broja joined Everton on loan extremely late on deadline day, around 2am! As well as Mangala from Nottingham Forest earlier on in the day. Today they were given their squad numbers for the season, with Broja representing number 22 and Mangala taking the vacant number 8 after Amadou Onana’s move to the opposition side.

 

On the topic of committing to helping Everton succeed this season, Sean Dyche has confirmed that Managala could make his debut on Saturday. Even though Coleman is a doubt, Nathan Patterson and Jarrad Branthwaite have returned to full training, some positive news.
