Can Everton Bounce Back From Cup Exit?

Everton face Tottenham Hotspur away on December 23 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The Toffees faced an unfortunate defeat midweek to Fulham in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup; if Everton had won, they would've played Liverpool in the semi-finals to go to Wembley. A penalty shoutout defeat will knock a small amount of confidence from the squad, as the strong form that has been apparent during the time before the match against Fulham has been broken.

On the other hand, Postecoglou (the manager of Tottenham) and his team are looking to make it three wins in a row following a horrific run of form that saw them winless in five matches and therefore drop out of the Champions League places in the table.

Postecoglu has some team news for Tottenham in his interview with SpursPLAY: both Giovani Lo Celso and Brennan Johnson are in contention to return to the squad for this fixture. However, key players like James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon, Micky van de Ven, and Rodrigo Bentancur remain out.

Sean Dyche also gave injury updates for Everton in his press conference in the lead-up to the game, and here is what he had to say about Seamus Coleman, Mykolenko, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Ashley Young:

"Mykolenko is back in the thinking. The other three, it’s touch and go with Seamus - he needs a few more days of training. Youngy is making progress but I don’t think he will make this one, and Doucs not for this one...he is making good progress. He is a good healer from what I gather from his past so we are hoping it will settle as quickly as it is doing."
