Everton host Brentford at home in a game where, if other results go their way, the Toffees’ Premier League safety will be confirmed.
There are multiple situations in which Everton may be able to stay up today, mostly depending on Luton’s game against the Wolves.
If Wolves are victorious over Luton Town and Everton win against Brentford, then safety is confirmed.
Bottom of Premier League Table:
16 Everton 33
17 Nottingham Forest 26
18 Luton 25
19 Burnley 23
20 Sheffield United 16
Premier League Fixtures - 27/3/24:
West Ham vs Liverpool
Fulham vs Crystal Palace
Man Utd vs Burnley
Newcastle vs Sheffield United
Wolves vs Luton
Everton vs Brentford
Aston Villa vs Chelsea
After Everton’s incredible performance over Merseyside rivals Liverpool and taking all three points, all Toffees are hoping for the same type of performance against Brentford.
Brentford do not have anything to play for; it is extremely unlikely that the Bees will get relegated, and it is, again, extremely unlikely that they will get any sort of European competition come the end of the season.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank spoke in his press conference in the lead-up to the fixture, speaking about how much of a tough season it has been for not only himself but for other clubs in a similar position:
“It's been a tough season - every one is in the Premier League, no matter where you are in the table.”
Brentford Recent Form:
Luton 1-5 Brentford
Brentford 2-0 Sheffield United
Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford
Brentford 0-0 Brighton
Brentford 1-1 Man United
Sean Dyche has spoken in his programme notes for the game, explaining that “our objective is to bring the intensity, workate, a and commitment to the cause that helped build such a strong connection with our fans.”
Everton will be without Ukrainian left-back Mykolenko for this fixture after suffering an injury against the Reds. Mykolenko seemed to roll his ankle in an attempt to retain the ball in the Everton penalty area.
Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin played through illness this week, but Dyche is hopeful he will play through it and the issue will settle down before the game.
