A 96th minute goal for Luton Town from a corner slotted in by Woodrow was the last moment of the game, which ended the game as a 2-1 defeat for Everton.
Everton lined up divergently from their usual ways, with both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto up top in a 4-4-2 formation.
In the 39th minute, Luton got a corner, which unfortunately came off Everton defender Mykolenko and went into the back of the net, classifying as an own goal. This was the only proper attack occurring in the first half.
It seemed Everton couldn't find a way to score, doing everything right until the final third or the last pass. Easy, simple things were going wrong, which needed changing if the Blues wanted to get back into the game.
Both teams came out into the second half, and within 10 minutes of the restart, Everton attacker Jack Harrison had a shot on goal, slipped under Luton goalkeeper Tim Kruel, and went into the back of the net for an equaliser!
The game continued, with changes for both sides attacking as the place in the next round was still up for grabs for the majority of the second half. Everton was on top in the lead-up for the last 20–30 minutes of the fixture, but in the final minutes of the match, a corner was given to the opposition.
As the ball was whipped in and the delivery caused a big scramble in the box, it landed on Luton forward Cauley Woodrow, who tapped it in, leaving Everton distraught. This means the Hatters qualify for the next round of the FA Cup (round 5), and the draw will take place on Sunday, January 28th.
