Amadou Onana Joins Aston Villa

Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana has left Everton for Champions League side Aston Villa.

Onana joined the club 2 years ago, when Frank Lampard was first team manager, for £35m from Ligue 1 side Lille. Since Sean Dyche has take over the role from Lampard, Onana has been selected a lot more rarely than he would have hoped.

The midfield three Dyche has selected frequently this season, consisting of Idrissa Gana Gueye, James Garner and Abdoulaye Doucoure has left Amadou Onana sitting on the bench wasting away.

Onana has made it clear through multiple news outlets that his dream is to play Champions League football. He thrives to play at the top level of football so much that he even rejected a contract from an unnamed Saudi Pro League club; who would of been able to provide him with a high salary.

Now with Aston Villa interested, it appeared a no brainier for him to join Unai Emery’s side. This will be the second player leaving the Blues for Villa after winger Lewis Dobbin joined them for £10m a few weeks back.

The Belgian’s time at the club has been short with him not suiting the manager’s system. Here are Onana’s stats during the 23/24 season:

Amadou Onana Stats For 23/24:

Appearances: 34

Goals: 3

Assists: 3

Yellow Cards: 5
