Everton Host Tottenham - Six Pointer?

Everton face Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park, with some classifying the fixture as a six-pointer!

It’s no secret that both sides have been underperforming to a huge degree throughout the duration of this Premier League campaign. Everton currently sit 16th, and Tottenham have 7 points more; however, they only sit one place above, in 15th. A win for Postecoglou’s side would put them into twelfth place, whereas the Toffees would remain in the position they currently are.

It seems slowly but surely a huge gap is emerging towards the relegation area. A win for Spurs would also create a 9-point gap between 16th and 15th, with Everton the victim. It’s not yet panic stations, but if solutions are created, it will be soon.

Last time out for the Toffees was a disappointing but overall fair result. A 1-0 loss against Aston Villa with the only goal of the game being a counterattacking scenario that led to an Ollie Watkins goal. After the game, new manager David Moyes, that result being his first in charge of his second spell at the Toffees, expressed how additions are necessary if Everton want to stay in the Premier League comfortably this season, previously mentioning that there are sufficient funds there to be used.

The Blues’ opponents on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur, also lost last game week as they faced Arsenal in the North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium. 2 goals in 4 minutes towards the conclusion of the first half. A Dominic Solanke own goal followed by a Leandro Trossard goal into the bottom right-hand corner gave Arsenal the two-goal advantage and the three points.

Similarly to Moyes, Spurs manager Andre Postecoglou has spoken in his press conference about the work behind the scenes at Tottenham currently in regards to the transfer window. The manager has stated that they are “working as hard as they can" to make new signings; however, “it’s not easy.”

Postecoglou has always mentioned that Brennan Johnson has a calf issue, Bissouma is slightly hurt, and Timo Werner will be out for three to four weeks with a hamstring issue. On the other hand, for Everton, James Garner is back in full first-team training at Finch Farm, but all of Chermiti, Coleman, Iroegbunam, and McNeil will not feature, with Broja being confirmed to be injured for around 12 weeks, with the possibility of him returning to his parent club Chelsea.
