Dobbin Seals The Deal For The Toffees

Everton defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Goodison Park, with goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and academy kid Lewis Dobbin. Both goals came in the second half.

The match was somewhat similar to the Newcastle game during the week: a robust first half with not a lot of chances, and a second half where Everton dominated!

Chelsea were lacksuter, they didn't seem to look like an exciting team. They have amazing individual players, but they didn't seem to work as a team today. Even though they had the most possession, Chelsea didn't pose a real threat, as Everton were fantastic defensively. Every time Chelsea would enter the box, the back line would deal with it and clear it.

Even the Chelsea manager, Pochettino, agrees as he expresses his frustration towards his squad in his press conference:

“I’m really disappointed. This was a game to play and to win. It's a problem we need to check.”

What does Chelsea do next? The transfer market is open soon (January), and Pochettino is hoping that he will be able to boost his squad.

"We need to talk and to try and improve in the next transfer market”.

On the other hand, Everton's form should not go unnoticed; with six wins, one draw, and one loss in the last eight Premier League games, it seems Sean Dyche has his priorities ordered within the club and is always one step ahead! Even with the lack of possession, Everton found a way. This is what Sean Dyche said about the occasion:

"They were better in some ways, like in keeping possession, but you've got to find ways of winning; we are finding ways of winning, we fight, work and do the ugly side of the game."

Next up for Everton: Burnley (a)

This is another opportunity to hopefully grab another three points for the Toffees and climb even further out of the bottom section of the table. Burnley are 19th in the table with 8 points in 16 games.

Next up for Chelsea: Sheffield United (h)

After a poor performance today, Chelsea will be hoping this encounter will be an easy three points for them, as Sheffield lay bottom of the table with 8 points in 16 games.

Thank You!
